Charmaine Picard is a curator, advisor, and accredited fine art appraiser with more than two decades of experience in the international art world. She works with corporate and private clients to build and strengthen art collections through a combination of market expertise and rigorous scholarship.
She has held curatorial positions at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago and served as U.S. Associate Editor at The Art Newspaper, covering art law, the global art market, and cultural policy. She has edited monographs for Skira and Rizzoli, including Yoan Capote (2016) and Fired Up! Ready to Go!: Finding Beauty, Demanding Equity: An African American Life in Art. The Collections of Peggy Cooper Cafritz (2018).
Trained in art history at the University of Chicago, she specializes in Post-War, Contemporary, and Emerging Art, with particular expertise in Latin American and African American art. Her longstanding relationships with leading dealers, curators, artists, and collectors provide clients with access to both established and emerging markets.
Recent projects include directing the acquisition of new works and the reinstallation of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP's 900-piece collection at its Hudson Yards headquarters. The project demonstrates her ability to manage complex collections and large-scale installations.
