Charmaine Picard is an art historian, curator, and fine art appraiser with over two decades of experience in the art world. She has held curatorial positions at institutions including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago.​
Trained in art history at the University of Chicago, Picard specializes in Post-War, Contemporary, and Emerging Art, with a particular focus on Latin American and African American fine art. Her scholarly background and practical experience enable her to offer nuanced and informed guidance to collectors and institutions alike.
Throughout her career, Picard has written extensively on artists and the art market for leading international publications. She previously served as U.S. Associate Editor at The Art Newspaper, contributing and editing in-depth coverage on topics such as art law, international taxation, the global art market, and cultural policy. She has also edited two fine art books for renowned publishers Rizzoli Electa and Skira Editore. Her extensive network includes long-standing relationships with top dealers, curators, artists, and collectors, providing access to both emerging and established markets.
Most recently, she was commissioned by Debevoise & Plimpton LLP to manage the acquisition of new artworks and oversee the reinstallation of their 900-piece fine art collection at the firm's new offices in Hudson Yards. This project highlights her expertise in managing large-scale collections and executing complex installations with precision and vision.
